Caterpillar says it’s concerned about the business climate in Illinois.There's no knowing how seriously CAT would have considered another Illinois plant, but given the tax hikes, selective concessions to large corporations, and prevailing uncertainty regarding how to deal with the state's budget deficit, why could CAT want to increase its exposure to the whims of Illinois politicians?
Other states go out of their way to provide a business-friendly environment. Illinois? Not so much, and corporations (and small business owners) know it and look elsewhere when they can.
